KU Dining - Bartender/Server - Catering

At KU Dining, our mission is to make every guest happy through chef crafted food and excellent customer service, with an environmental consciousness.

JOB SUMMARY:
KU Dining Bartender/Servers will provide an excellent experience for our guests by preparing and serving drinks with alcohol and without to our guests via bar or table service.   

SUPERVISON RECEIVED & GIVEN:  Receives supervision from Catering Captains, Supervisors and Catering Manager. 

IN THIS ROLE YOU’LL GET TO:

Adaptability:
Multi-task and manage competing demands.
Be flexible during events to ensure the highest level of guest service.

Communications:
Positively interact with guests while taking orders and serving drinks.
Follow up on customer concerns with supervisory staff.

Cooperation:
Work cooperatively within the team while offering support and assistance to co-workers in order to meet the needs of the guests.
Tactfully navigate potentially difficult situations related to the service of alcohol.

Customer Service:
Be courteous to guests and respond promptly to their needs.
Take action to solve guests concerns and look for ways to improve each guest’s experience.

Initiative:
Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
Clean bar supplies post-event
Report beverage usage to Supervisor using identified process post-event

Job Knowledge:
Display a commitment to excellence in all areas of beverage service.
Comply with all food and beverage regulations
Check customers’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age

YOU WILL ALSO:
Perform other related duties as assigned, including assisting with food service and post-event clean up.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES & SKILLS: 
Basic mixology knowledge, bar standards, and set up.
Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness
Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and responsiveness
Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol
Accountability in maintaining inventory and processing payments
Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
Must be 21 years of age or older
High School graduation or GED equivalent
Must obtain ServSafe Alcohol certification within 3 weeks of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
Previous food service/bartending experience
